Terms of Service
These terms cover the CatchNone app for iPhone, iPad and Mac (“the app”) and the service behind @catchnone.com addresses (“the service”), both provided by Nikodem Bernat (“I”, “me”). By using the app you agree to them. Apple’s Standard License Agreement for apps also applies; where the two differ, these terms add to it for the service.
What CatchNone does
CatchNone creates email addresses (aliases) and shows the mail they receive. It receives mail only; it never sends or forwards mail. Reply and Forward open a draft in your own mail app. It checks for mail when you open it and sends no notifications. It has no automatic spam filter.
There are two kinds of alias:
- On your own domain. You need a domain that already delivers catch-all mail to a mailbox at your provider. The app reads that mailbox over IMAP or JMAP, read-only. Your provider, not CatchNone, receives and keeps that mail. Marking an alias “Not in use” is a label in the app; your provider keeps delivering its mail.
- On @catchnone.com (Premium). The service receives and stores mail for you. Addresses are assigned at random by the service. Switching an alias off makes its mail bounce. A deleted address is never given to anyone else.
Plans
- Free: your own domain, up to 10 aliases.
- Lite (yearly): unlimited aliases on your own domain. It does not include @catchnone.com.
- Premium (monthly or yearly): unlimited aliases on your own domains, plus @catchnone.com.
- Premium Family (yearly): Premium shared through Family Sharing. Each family member’s account has its own limits.
There is no free trial. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple, renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and are managed or cancelled in your Apple Account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple.
@catchnone.com limits
The current limits per account are:
- A limited number of addresses at a time. Aliases that are switched off still count; deleting one frees a slot.
- 100 new addresses a day, including ones you later delete.
- 500 incoming messages a day, and at most 250 of them to any one address.
- 1 GB of stored mail.
- 25 MB per message.
Mail over the daily or storage limit is refused for the time being, and the sender’s mail server normally tries again later. Mail larger than 25 MB is refused. Mail that arrives too fast in a short period is accepted and discarded, and is not kept. Each message is kept for 30 days after it arrives and then deleted from the service. Keep a copy elsewhere of anything you need longer.
If your Premium subscription ends, mail sent to your @catchnone.com addresses is deleted on arrival until you subscribe again. Your addresses stay reserved for your account. Aliases on your own domain are not affected.
I may change these limits. The current limits are always listed on this page.
Acceptable use
Do not use @catchnone.com addresses to break the law, to receive mail for someone else without their permission, or in a way that harms the service or other people (for example, signing up addresses in bulk or directing floods of mail at the service). I may suspend or close an account that does.
No guarantee of delivery
Email is not guaranteed to arrive. The service depends on senders, on the Domain Name System and on providers I do not control (Cloudflare hosts the service; RevenueCat checks subscriptions). I work to keep it running, but I do not promise that every message will be received or kept, and the service may be unavailable at times. Do not use a @catchnone.com address as the only way to receive mail you cannot afford to lose, such as account recovery for important accounts.
To the extent the law allows, the app and the service are provided “as is”, and I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of mail. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
Ending the service
You can stop at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting the app. To delete your @catchnone.com account and all stored mail, use Settings → About → Delete @catchnone.com account in the app, or email me@nikodembernat.com with your User ID (Settings → About); I will first confirm that the account is yours, as the Privacy Policy describes. Deleting the account does not cancel your subscription.
If the @catchnone.com service is ever shut down, notice will be given in the app first, so you can move your accounts to other addresses.
Your data
How the app and the service handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy: catchnone.com/privacy
Changes
I may update these terms. The new version will be posted on this page. If you keep using the app after that, the new terms apply.
